An Open Letter to Die BEELD Advertising by Stephen Palos post thumbnail image

After receiving a letter from Die Beeld touting for advertising Stephen Palos replied in an open letter to Deon.

In essence, the request for advertising is …

“Beeld will publish a focus page on hunting and fishing in the main body of the newspaper. This will be the perfect opportunity to bring to the attention of the public anything from your products and services to special offers in this regard. The focus page will be divided for the different provinces that will create the opportunity to advertise your game farm and fishing area to our 333 000 readers and have the opportunity to advertise on our online electronic platform, Netwerk24.”

The full request is posted below Stephen’s letter.

Dear Deon

Thank you for putting a positive spin on hunting and particularly the restoration of some business for the game farmers as hunting slowly opens up from the lockdown.

However, we as CHASA have a serious concern relating doing any form of business with Beeld going forward. For too many years now, your editors have allowed the journalist, Elise Templehoff, to continuously batter the hunting sector by her ongoing promotion of the animal-rightist agenda, and in particular her airing the views of avid anti-hunting organisations such as the EMS Foundation and others.

I think the time has come for somebody within your organisation to decide where your bread is buttered, and in particular, what your own readership demographic is.

Thereafter, perhaps, the editor can decide whether ongoing anti-hunting rhetoric will be permanently excluded from the Beeld/Rapport stable and we, the organisations who fight tooth & nail to defend conservation through sustainable use, can embrace the publication again. For now however, we are encouraging our members to avoid media that intentionally damages the image of hunting.

Kind Regards

Stephen Palos

Dear advertiser

We are thank full that after sixty days of lockdown we can now go hunting and fishing, even it is just in the provinces we live in.

The winter is traditional hunting time and even if we have lost two months, we still got three months and some extended time in the summer left for hunting. The fishermen believe the winter is perfect to bring the big carp and catfish to the shores.

Now is the time to dust of the rifles and fishing rods and maybe getting a bakkie for the excursion to the hunting fields and dams, rivers and streams.
Beeld will continue to support the industry by bringing this traditional activities constantly under the attention of the people for generations to come. We will give extended coverage of this activities especially now in the winter months that is the prime time for hunting.

Beeld will publish a focus page on hunting and fishing in the main body of the newspaper. This will be the perfect opportunity to bring to the attention of the public anything from your products and services to special offers in this regard. The focus page will be divided for the different provinces that will create the opportunity to advertise your game farm and fishing area to our 333 000 readers and have the opportunity to advertise on our online electronic platform, Netwerk24.

Don’t let the opportunity slip through your fingers to get your product, place or service in the telescope to bring the new clients to your shores!
